A man hit his flatmate on the head with a frying pan during an argument about a party, a court has heard.
Scott Graham returned home from work at a restaurant in Tomintoul to discover a party going on at his flat.
But the 43-year-old kitchen worker became irate when he discovered one of the guests had taken a chair from his bedroom.
Yesterday Graham admitted striking Mr Bailey on the head with a glass cafetiere and a frying pan to his permanent disfigurement at a flat in The Square, Tomintoul, on May 21 last year.
Elgin Sheriff Court heard he began arguing with his flatmate, Stuart Bailey after realising a guest had trespassed into his personal space.
Fiscal Kevin Corrins said: “He became aggressive to the people there, and shouted and swore at them.
“Many guests moved to the downstairs kitchen area, where Mr Bailey attempted to reason with the accused.”
The court heard that a brawl ensued, and Mr Bailey grabbed Graham in a headlock.
Mr Corrins said that at that point Graham picked up a glass cafetiere and shattered it over the complainer, cutting his head and spilling cold coffee over him.
The fiscal added: “Mr Bailey again attempted to restrain the accused by putting him in a headlock, but Graham picked up a frying pan and struck him on the back of the head with it.”
Paramedics were called to glue a wound on the victim’s head, and a GP later confirmed there would be lasting scars.
Sentence on the first offender, who is from Clydebank and now works in Cambridge, was deferred until next month for background reports.
