Reckless drivers have been tearing along north-east roads, with several clocking more than 100mph.
Police said a number of motorists have been reported for driving at “grossly excessive speeds” putting themselves and others at risk.
On Sunday a 29-year-old man was stopped after driving at 102mph on the A90 near Peterhead.
The following day officers reported a 33-year-old man who had been driving at 114mph on the A96 near Huntly, a 19-year-old man driving at 115mph on the A947 near Turriff and two men, 25 and 22, who had been driving more than 70mph on North Anderson Drive in Aberdeen.
Inspector Jon Barron of the divisional road policing unit said: “Despite repeated pleas, it simply beggars belief that officers still have to deal with motorists like these examples who are clearly willing to put themselves in obvious danger. More importantly, not only are they risking their own lives, they are also endangering anyone else who happens to be using these roads, across the north-east, at the time.
“Sadly and all too frequently, major collisions take place. The lives of many can be changed forever, either through the loss of loved ones, through the life-changing affects of the serious injuries suffered by friends or family, by having actually witnessed the terrifying incidents or having come upon the devastating aftermath and stopped to render assistance those involved.”
All the drivers have been reported to the procurator fiscal.
