Fire crews are working to free a motorist from his vehicle after a two-car smash on a busy Moray road.
Commuters are being diverted through Forres following the crash, which took place along the A96 Inverness to Aberdeen road on the eastern edge of the town.
Police were called to the scene at 3.30pm, amid reports that two cars had collided near Forres train station, by the Waterford junction.
The accident involved a grey Honda CRV and a silver Ford Ranger 4×4 pickup, and has left the eastbound carriageway blocked.
A police spokeswoman confirmed that only one man was reported to have suffered harm in the crash.
And she said efforts were ongoing to safely remove him from his car.
She added: “Emergency vehicles are at the scene, and fire crews have been called to help someone get out of their car.
“The driver of the Honda is complaining of a sore neck, and will be checked over – but it appears to be nothing too serious.
“We can’t say how long the road will remain closed for, as it could take a bit of time to help get the injured person out of his vehicle.
“No-one else is saying they are injured.”
Eastbound traffic is being directed through Forres High Street as efforts continue at the scene of the crash.
