A Scottish piano prodigy will launch his new album at a concert in Moray next week.
Pianist and composer Alexander Chapman Campbell will play a selection of his latest compositions during a show at Findhorn’s Universal Hall on Friday, April 8.
The concert forms part of a 35-date UK tour, during which the 27-year-old maestro will also perform in Edinburgh and Manchester.
Mr Campbell, who lives in Dallas, the little village south west of Elgin, says many of the tunes have been inspired by the rugged natural environment found in Moray and along Scotland’s west coast.
He said: “My wife and I have lived in Dallas for the past 18 months, and stay right beside the River Lossie.
“It’s completely quiet, and I think I compose best when I am in a natural place like that.
“I have always loved living in remote places.”
On Friday, April 22, the Dunblane-born musician will play at Brodie Castle – the same venue he visited before proposing to his wife in 2014.
Mr Campbell added: “It’s very beautiful out there, and the concert will have some special meaning because of the personal connection I have with it.”
The new album, entitled Portraits of Earth, was recorded at Crear House and Studio by Tarbert and features 12 original solo pieces.
Mr Campbell’s debut release, Sketches of Light, was voted as album of the week on Classic FM, and reached number 33 on the UK’s official classical album charts in 2013.
Classic FM radio presenter John Brunning, who played guitar with Mungo Jerry, hailed the work as “refreshingly original”.
