An Aberdeen community group is hoping to secure funding to renovate a historic site.
Tillydrone Community Development Trust has been granted approval to renovate the Wallace Tower and create a first of its kind sensory adventure trail.
The plans for the 17th century building also include a cafe, community space and offices.
The trust now, however, must seek out the funds to carry out the project organisers hope will transform the area as in the process of applying for financial backing from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The group has applied for an initial start-up grant of up to £10,000 but will not find out if they can receive any further support for more than a year.
Chairman of the Tillydrone Community Development Trust, Ross Grant, said: “We’re continuing discussions with the Heritage Lottery Fund.
“We’ve submitted a project enquiry form outlining what we’re hoping to do and why we’d need the funding.
“The feedback was very useful but quite positive as well. It ticks quite a lot of their boxes but there’s still a lot of work to do.
“They want to make sure we’re taking the time to get things absolutely right.”
The trust is also hopeful of securing some high-profile support for the project.
Mr. Grant said: “We have met with Anne Begg and she’s very excited by what we’ve proposed.
“We’re hoping that, given her position as a champion of people with disabilities, that she will come onboard and give us guidance towards delivering the scheme.”
