Shetland Coastguard were alerted to the incident, on the Ocean Patriot rig, at about 5pm. Rescue helicopter 900 was called to the drilling platform, which is located about 85 miles south-east of Sumburgh. The worker, a man, has now been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The coastguard has been unable to confirm if his condition was serious.
