The Press and Journal has won a top journalism award for the third year in a row.
The newspaper’s business editor Erikka Askeland was named Financial-Business Journalist of the Year at the Scottish Press Awards ceremony in Glasgow last night.
It is the second time she has landed the award, and the third year running the P&J has scooped the title.
The paper – and its online offerings – was shortlisted for five awards, and was runner-up for Innovation of the Year for our Saturday Highland League feature, The Big Game.
Our sister website Energy Voice had also been nominated for Innovation of the Year, while Rob Murray was in the running for Cartoonist of the Year.
Apprentice 100 – our hugely successful initiative that led to get at least 100 young people onto the career ladder in as many days – was also shortlisted for campaign of the year.
Press and Journal editor-in-chief Damian Bates said: “We are delighted about Erikka’s award and the fact the newspaper was short-listed for so many categories.
“Those who know Erikka know what a great hard worker and talented journalist she is. She thoroughly deserves the prize and recognition.”
The prestigious awards – which were announced at a black tie dinner at Glasgow’s Radisson Blu Hotel – showcase the very best of journalistic talent in Scotland.
The black-tie dinner evening was hosted by broadcaster Tam Cowan.
