Five fire engines have been called to the blaze between Blandy and Skullomie, north of Tongue. A fire service spokesman said they received the call at 7.30pm and fire crews surrounded the flames to keep them at bay. Beaters have been used by the fire crews to help tackle the fire, with “a handful” of homes nearby. The spokesman said crews were saving water so they were able to protect the homes, however nobody has had to be evacuated. “It’s a protracted wildfire” the spokesman said.
