A motorcyclist is recovering in hospital after being struck by a hit and run driver on the outskirts of a Moray town.
Police officers have launched an investigation into the incident, which took place in the Mill of Tynet area, near Buckie, on Friday.
The motorcyclist was thrown from his 125cc Supermoto bike at about 5.30pm, after it collided with a red Audi.
The 50-year-old man was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin, where he is being treated for a broken ankle and broken ribs.
Officers want to trace the car and its owner, who they say left the scene without providing any details.
Constable Tom Millican said officers needed to know “exactly” what happened and urged the driver to make contact.
He said: “I would appeal for anyone who was in the area around the time in question and saw anything that could help our investigation to contact police.
“In particular, if you recognise yourself as being the car owner involved, please get in touch so that we can establish exactly what happened.”
Anyone with information should contact the police on 101, or the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555111 if they wish to remain anonymous.
