A male driving a Volkswagen Passat was airlifted to hospital in Glasgow after the incident at Lochmaddy at about 9.30pm on Monday. He remained in hospital yesterday, with his condition described as “serious but stable”. The incident happened on the Loop Road in Lochmaddy, between the sheriff court building and the north junction to the main entrance to the village. The casualty was the only occupant in the car. No other vehicle was involved in the collision. The road was closed for several hours, with local diversions in place. Anyone with any information should contact the police on 101.
