A former window cleaner will appear for sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court next month on a stalking charge.
Joseph Foy, 43, 68 Ardcroy Road, Inverness, who had been remanded in custody pending trial on the offence which included three breaches of bail orders, changed his plea to guilty yesterday.
He admitted that on June 17 at Academy Street, Holm Park and various other locations in Inverness, he engaged in a course of conduct which caused his former partner, Claire Mackay, fear and alarm.
The charge goes on: “you did follow her in a motor van on various occasions whilst she was driving and whilst she was stationary at traffic lights at Academy Street, you did exit your car, approach her vehicle, knowing that your attention was not welcome.
“Then you did continue to follow her on streets, follow her to an address in Holm Park where she sought refuge and you did shout to the householder Theresa Hughan, placing both women in a state of fear and alarm.
“All of this was committed when you were on bail orders granted on October 28, 2015, December 16, 2015 and May 16 this year.”
Defence lawyer Willie Young said his client had been placed on a community payback order on July 8 last year and it remained outstanding, therefore a background report must be obtained.
“He has been in custody since June 20 and given that he has not served a prison sentence before, I am hoping he can be released on bail for the report to be prepared.”
Fiscal depute David Morton told Sheriff David Sutherland he would be seeking a non harrasment order to be placed on Foy at time of sentence.
Sheriff Sutherland noted that Foy was due to be sentenced on another similar matter on September 5 and deferred sentence until that date.
Foy was then released on bail.
