A surfer sparked a rescue operation after getting caught in a riptide off a beach in the Western Isles.
The woman was carried away in the strong current while surfing off Dalmore Beach on the west coast of Lewis.
A person back on the beach called the emergency services and a major search operation was launched, involving the Stonroway Lifeboat and a search and rescue helicopter.
However, before many of the units were able to reach the scene, the woman managed to reach the shore herself.
She was checked over by an ambulance crew and members of a coastguard ground team.
A spokesman for Stornoway Coastguard said the woman was not believed to have been injured by the ordeal.
