A spoken word mayday was made at 7.20am and has now been traced to the Scapa Flow area of Orkney. A spokesman for the coastguard said: “We have sent two lifeboats to the area and will soon be sending a helicopter.” Update: The coastguard stood down at 11.30pm and did not find anything.
