A north-east beauty queen is hoping for a lucky number seven when she competes in a prestigious pageant next month.

Lyndsey Beckwith, from Aberdeen, is a finalist in the Miss Galaxy Scotland beauty pageant, her seventh competition to date.

The 28-year-old, who lives in the Mastrick area of the city, was chosen from thousands of hopefuls and says she feels “very proud” and “very conscious” of the responsibility that comes with being a finalist.

She added: “So many girls would have loved to have taken part so I feel I owe it to them as well as myself to really give it my best shot.

“I would be so humbled and honoured to wear the crown as Miss Galaxy Scotland.”

“It would mean that I could show hard work does pay off, and that perseverance and determination are as important as brains and beauty when it comes to pageants.

“I have already earned three other titles.”

Launching in 2008, the Galaxy pageant is now one of the largest events of its kind in the UK.

Miss Beckwith has previously been crowned Miss Global Beauty Queen Scotland, Miss British Empire Grampian and Miss Year Aberdeen.

She has also finished runner-up in a number of competitions and travelled as afar afield as South Korea

However, she admits this could be her biggest challenge yet.

She added: “Having had some success in smaller pageants, I wanted a big goal.

I wanted something I could push myself for, something to feel proud of and something to feel good about.

“I’m most looking forward to the evening wear round. This is when everybody is backstage wearing the most beautiful gowns and feeling their best, ready for their moment to shine on stage.”

“It’s all about being graceful and elegant and it’s also the last opportunity you have to really impress the judges.”

As well her success in the beauty world, Miss Beckwith also has a degree in international business management and she hopes to pursue a career in freelance consultancy.

She will join finalists from all over Scotland to vie for the coveted title in Lancashire on March 10.

The winner of the Scottish title will go on to compete in the world finals later on in the year.
