A disgusted Aberdeen diner has told of the moment he bit into a piece of KFC chicken and found a dead insect inside.
Richie Todd was having lunch at the fried chicken outlet at Haudagain Retail Park yesterday afternoon when he made the shocking discovery.
The 24-year-old vehicle administrator from Northfield said he was just moments away from biting into the black insect.
According to Richie, the bug appeared to have been fried along with the chicken when it was cooked.
And then, when he went back to counter to complain, Richie was left stunned by the response from staff.
He said:”When we went back to complain, the staff’s attitude were extremely poor and it was was sort of shrugged off.
“A manager was barking out orders from behind the fryer saying ‘Just give them a refund!’ There was no interest, no apology or anything.
“We were given £14 back for our meals and we returned the food but obviously we won’t be eating in any KFC restaurant ever again.
“We have contacted the Local Authority Food Standards Agency and contacted KFC directly, who say they are ‘investigating’.”
A KFC spokesperson said: “We take hygiene standards extremely seriously, and have robust systems and processes in place at all of our restaurants to ensure our food is safe.
“These procedures mean that in this case, it seems unlikely this would have happened within the restaurant, but we’re investigating these claims urgently, and have given Richie a refund for his takeaway meal.”
