Young pirates are being summoned this weekend to test their skills in a treasure hunt around one of Aberdeenshire’s historic castles.
The grounds at Castle Fraser have been used to create a ‘challenging’ treasure trail for kids to explore this Saturday and Sunday while they take in all that the site has to offer.
An old baronial castle dating back to the 15th century, the National Trust for Scotland’s Castle Fraser has a real atmosphere about it spanning from the Medieval through to the Victorian times.
Highlights include the Great Hall, the Worked Room — which is full of 18th century embroideries — and the estate gardens.
Property manager, Paula Swan said: “We’re looking forward to giving a hearty welcome to some budding bucaneers for our treasure hunt.
“It’ll be lots of fun and it’s a great way to share the fantastic heritage and history of Castle Fraser.”
The team will be on standby this weekend with their chocolate treats ready for successful scavengers who complete their treasure hunt to tuck in to.
Parents are welcome to bring their pirates along to Castle Fraser for the event from 11am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, at the cost of £2 per child.
