A man has been quizzed by police regarding allegations of exposing himself to young boys in the showers of a north-east swimming pool.
Following an man hunt, police confirmed today an individual had been detained and was helping police with their enquiries after it was reported that the man in question had been pulling down his swimming-shorts next to young boys in the showers at Stonehaven open air pool.
The incident, which took place earlier this month, was spotted by a couple visiting from Dundee who later saw the same man exiting the Olympia swimming baths in the city.
In an attempt to warn other parents of a potential threat Gary Gracie took to social media to raise awareness.
The original post read: “Last week I took the kids up to Stonehaven Open Air pool. There was a guy next to me in the shower before I went in the pool and I only noticed him because he was covered in massive red blotches all over his skin.
“Once I left the pool (nearly two hours later) the same guy was still in the same shower which I thought was a bit strange.
“I didn’t think anything of it until I was getting changed in the cubicles, which are only half height, and I seen a little boy going in one of the showers and this guy then pulled down his shorts moved to the closest shower to [sic] and turned towards the boy.
“I stopped what I was doing and watched to see what was going on and the guy pulled his shorts back up when the boy left then another two little boys went in the shower and he did the exact same thing.
“I shouted and he seen me and quickly scurried away to get changed.
“I’ve been driving round trying to find him while on the phone to the police as this guy seems to be moving around different swimming pools.
“If you are going to any swimming please keep an eye out for him, he has red blotches all over his body and is around 55-60.”
North-east police are now questioning a man in relation to the offences and have taken an official statement from the witness.
A police spokeswoman said: “The man who reported the incident is from Dundee and alerted Tayside police division after seeing the man for a second time at the Olympia.
“North-east police are now working alongside their counterparts to investigate.
“Officers are attending Stonehaven pool to determine whether the incident was reported to them.”
