More than 500 spectators watched scores of skeletons, princesses and superheroes traverse obstacles and avoid pitfalls at an Aberdeen green space this weekend to raise charity funds.
And the many costumed participants, from ghouls to mermaids and everything in between, contributed to a successful charity day out.
Friends of Anchor held their annual Wipeout initiative at Hazlehead Park, where 72 teams went head to head to tackle the challenges, inspired by television programmes It’s A Knockout and Wipeout.
All twelve events put the teams to the test with the need to manoeuvre obstacles and inflatables to complete the game.
The Aberdeen and North Centre for Haematology, Oncology and Radiotherapy (ANCHOR) unit is an NHS department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary which treats patients with all forms of cancer, leukaemia and benign blood disorders throughout the north-east of Scotland and Orkney and Shetland.
As well as supporting the purchasing of new medical equipment, the charity also helps fund clinical research at Aberdeen University.
The three previous years of the charity challenge have raised more than £150,000.
And this year, organisers are confident the fun and frolics will add even more to the coffers.
Rhona Miller, fundraising executive at Friends of Anchor, declared the event had become increasingly popular since it was started four years ago.
She said: “It has really grown and grown over the years and, this year, we had more than 500 people taking part over the weekend.
“Every year, the different teams come in fancy dress and, every time, they seem to be a bit more wild than the last.
“The best thing is, as well as being a fun day out, every penny raised goes directly to the Anchor unit helping some of the neediest people.”
Ursula Fairlie, team captain of the Disney Dreamers, chose a team theme based on the famous film company.
P&J reporter Francesca Marshall was among those braving the myriad challenges in a good cause.
The 22-year-old said: “We have already raised more than £500 and the money is still coming in. The whole day has been great fun.”
