A man has been banned from the roads after getting behind the wheel while almost five times over the drink-drive limit.
Boris Rusu was pulled over by police on Leadside Road, Aberdeen in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Officers had been concerned by the manner of his driving and, when he was asked to perform a roadside breath test, they discovered he had 109 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 22mcg.
Yesterday, Rusu appeared at the city’s sheriff court from custody and admitted driving while over the legal limit.
The court heard he had been driving home to his flat at 72 Esslemont Avenue, at the time with his wife and 18-year-old daughter also in the car.
Representing him, solicitor Laura Gracie said he could not remember much about the incident due to the level of alcohol he had drank that night.
Sheriff Christine McCrossan disqualified Rusu from driving for 18 months and fined him £800.
