Aberdeen witnessed the sight of horses on the run on Thursday and a herd of cows tried to make their great escape yesterday.
In scenes more reminiscent of the old West than the north east, motorists travelling into the city in the morning were among the first to spot the curious sight at the side of Mugiemoss Road in Bucksburn.
The 15 animals were grazing on some grass and appeared to be in no great hurry to moo-ve.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said they received a call at around 8.40am alerting them to the cows’ escape.
She added that once the owner was identified, he joined officers to retrieve the herd and walk them back to their home.
The A90 was blocked for a short time while the group made their way towards the Grandholm area which caused traffic chaos for commuters.
This was the second incident in 48 hours of animals causing rush-hour problems.
On Thursday, police officers were called out to round up four horses spotted on St John’s Road at around 8am.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed the creatures were seen on St John’s Road before heading towards Gilbert Road. They were subsequently glimpsed heading up towards Howes Road by curious motorists and pedestrians, who must be wondering what to expect next.
Drivers were advised to take care around the area while officers helped in the effort to track them down.
And thankfully, the animals were safely returned to their stables shortly afterwards.
