A man is in a critical condition in hospital last night after he was hit by a bus in Aberdeen.
The incident occurred in the city centre, close to the junction of Union Street and Holburn Street, at 10pm.
It is understood the man, who was described as “middle-aged”, was struck by a Stagecoach Coastrider coach, which was travelling from Aberdeen to Stonehaven, while crossing the road.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after the incident occurred.
Police and ambulance service arrived at the scene and paramedics treated the man before he was transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The fire service were not required.
A spokesman for Stagecoach said: “Our first thoughts are for the welfare of the pedestrian. We will also assist the police in any way that we can with their investigation into the incident.”
A police spokeswoman said: “A man was knocked down on Union Street, at Holburn junction, at 10pm.
“A bus hit a middle-aged pedestrian.
“He has been taken to ARI with serious injuries, which are potentially life-threatening.”
