A 59-year-old man remains in a life-threatening condition in hospital after being knocked down by a bus in Aberdeen.
The accident happened on Union Street, near its junction with Holburn Street, at about 10pm on Monday.
It is believed the man was crossing the road when he was hit by the Stagecoach bus, which was bound for Stonehaven.
He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with head injuries, and police last night confirmed he was still in a critical condition.
Officers yesterday appealed for anyone who saw the collision to come forward – and are particularly keen to speak to four people who stopped to help the injured man.
Sergeant Dave Pirie said: “We are appealing for witnesses and in particular for four people who may have stopped and assisted with the injured party.
“We don’t have any further details about these people but would ask that they contact us on 101 as they may be able to assist with our inquiries.
“If anyone has any information relating to the collision we would ask that they contact us.”
Police, ambulance and fire teams were dispatched to the scene of the incident on Union Street, just outside Tesco.
The road was closed until 2am while collision investigators examined the scene.
A spokesman for Stagecoach said: “Our first thoughts are for the welfare of the pedestrian.
“We will also assist the police in any way that we can with their investigation into the incident.”
