Vandals have caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to cars in an Aberdeenshire town.
Police are investigating after two parked vehicles were badly scratched in Portlethen’s Alder Drive between 7pm and 9.10pm on Monday evening.
A red 4×4 was left with a huge white gouge across its bonnet, which is believed to have been made with a stone.
The partner of the vehicle’s owner, who did not wish to be named, said: “I’ve got no idea why someone would have done this. It’s really just mindless and random, and it’s going to cost us at least £500 to get it fixed.”
The total value of the vandalism has been estimated to be just under £1,000.
Constable Marc Camus said: “This was a mindless act of vandalism to two neighbouring residents on Alder Drive.
“The evenings are still relatively light at the moment so those carrying out these vandalisms would have been visible to anyone walking or driving along the street.”
Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
