Councillors are expected to agree names for multimillion-pound sports facilities in two north-east towns when they meet next week.
A total of £12.7million is being spent across Macduff and Banff to provide new pitches and running tracks for the local community.
Now, members of the Banff and Buchan area committee are due to meet to discuss possible names for the two sites.
Council officers have recommended the group consider keeping the titles in line with the authority’s policy.
This would mean officials renaming the sites Deveron Community and Sports Centre and Macduff Community and Sports Centre.
In her report to the committee, education director Maria Walker said: “The lifelong learning and leisure team have been engaging with the Banff and Macduff communities on a number of issues, one of which is agreeing the formal names of the new facilities.
“Informal discussions, relating to a facility name, have taken place with interested members of the established stakeholder group.”
She added that the new names needed to reflect where the facilities were, what they contained and how they were different to what was previously available in the area.
Mrs Walker said: “Whilst a number of names have been considered, those proposed are in keeping with a standard approach to naming community and sports facilities in North Aberdeenshire.
“It would also mean more to those living within the local area and making use of the facilities.”
The council’s legal officers have confirmed that the final choice of a name for the two sites rests with the committee.
Work on the new facilities at Myrus Circle in Macduff and near Banff Academy is ongoing.
Banff swimming pool is currently closed as part of the refurbishment project. The pool is set to be enhanced by new changing facilities, a steam room and sauna as well as a link to the Deveron Centre.
New windows and wall insulation will also be installed. It is due to reopen in time for October.
The area committee will meet in Banff on Tuesday morning to discuss the proposals.
