Police are on the hunt for thieves that scaled the outside of an Aberdeen high rise and stole a bike from a balcony.
Officers have appealed for witnesses following the incident, which took place on August 22 at the Davidson House flats in Hazlehead.
Contractors Keepmoat, who are currently carrying out roofing works on the building, have advised residents to be on their guard and remove valuables from their balconies.
It is believed the criminals used the company’s scaffolding, which is currently affixed to the side of the high rise, to climb up into a first floor balcony and steal the bike.
In a statement, Keepmoat said: “It has been reported that a bicycle was stolen out of a tenant balcony within the building and that the theif may have climbed up the mast to gain access into the balcony.
“We strongly advise that all tenants clear their balconies of any valuable goods and that both access doors into the balcony are kept locked while the property is unoccupied.”
Hazlehead councillor Jennifer Stewart said: “It is completely shocking and disturbing for something like this to happen at Davidson House.
“This area of Hazlehead is usually so quiet, so it’s really alarming to find out that opportunistic criminals have taken advantage of this situation.
“I would urge anyone who knows anything about this incident to contact the police as soon as possible so we can find out who did this.”
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses and information following the theft of a bicycle from the Davidson House area of Hazlehead on Monday August 22.”
Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
