The funeral of a mother and her young son who died when their family day turned into tragedy will take place tomorrow.
Julie Walker entered the sea at Aberdeen beach after six-year-old Lucas fell into the water on Saturday, August 20.
The schoolboy’s elder brother Samuel, 13, also made a heroic rescue bid along with passers-by and police officers.
He was later taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Ms Walker and Lucas were pulled from the water but subsequently died in hospital.
In the days since the incident, there have been a number of poignant tributes paid to the pair.
In a statement, the Walker family said: “Julie was a kind and loving mother who would have done anything for her children, while Lucas was a lively and energetic little boy who was inquisitive by nature.”
A funeral service for the pair is to take place at Aberdeen Crematorium tomorrow morning.
