A selection of stunning art works will be auctioned off to the highest bidder this weekend at the sixth annual Aberdeen Art Fair to raise cash for The ARCHIE Foundation.
Dozens of works by artists from across the UK will go under the hammer and be raffled off throughout today and tomorrow at Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom.
The cash raised from the sales will go towards supporting sick kids at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, who come from across the north-east, Orkney and Shetland.
Among the many items being sold is an original piece by renowned artist Roz Bell called Coastal Life, which has been donated by the Enid Hutt Gallery on Union Street.
Dozens of other artworks and prizes have also been donated to help raise cash for ARCHIE by the Breeze Art Gallery, Robertson Fine Art and oil and gas company TAQA.
Gerry Muldoon, organiser of this year’s art fair, said: “I am grateful to Breeze Art Gallery, the Enid Hutt Gallery and Robertson Fine Art for their generosity in supplying the works.
“This will take the form of a silent auction and, combined with a raffle, we will hopefully raise a substantial amount of much needed funds for The ARCHIE Foundation, who do such great work in the area.”
Claire Bush, head of regional fundraising for ARCHIE, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as the charity for the Aberdeen Art Fair.
“We are also very grateful to the organisers of the fair, our fantastic supporter TAQA, the three galleries and the artists who have donated pieces for the silent auction and the raffle.
“The money from the auction and raffle will really make a difference to local sick children.”
The Aberdeen Art Fair will be held at the Beach Ballroom for the first time this year, from 9.30am to 5.30pm today, and 10am to 5pm tomorrow.
Tickets cost £3 for adults, with children under 15 free of charge as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
