A man has died after being hit by a bus in Aberdeen city centre.
Douglas Rae was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in a critical condition after the accident happened near the junction of Union Street and Holburn Street at 10pm last Monday.
But police confirmed yesterday that the 59-year-old, from Aberdeen, had died.
It is believed Mr Rae was crossing the road when he was hit by the Coastrider coach, which was heading to Stonehaven.
Police, ambulance and fire teams were dispatched to the scene of the incident on Union Street, just outside Tesco.
The road was closed until 2am while collision investigators examined the scene.
Police say that a number of people attempted to give Mr Rae first aid immediately after the accident.
Last night, officers appealed for them to come forward.
Sergeant Dave Pirie, who is leading the inquiry, said: “Our thoughts are obviously with Mr Rae’s family and friends at this very sad time.
“Inquiries into the incident are still ongoing and as such I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact police.
“We believe there was a number of people who came to Mr Rae’s assistance in the moments after the collision, and I would particularly appeal for them to come forward by contacting the force on 101.”
