Youngsters at an Aberdeen secondary school posed for an unusual photograph to celebrate its 60th anniversary yesterday.
A drone hovered about Northfield Academy as staff and pupils arranged themselves into the shape of a number 60 on the playing fields to mark the special occasion.
Head teacher Neil Hendry said: “We felt we wanted to capture the school of 2016, 60 years after the school opened in 1956.
“Six hundred pupils and more than 80 staff are included in the photograph. The drone allowed us to get an image which will certainly be one for the school archives.”
Angela Taylor, convener of Aberdeen City Council’s education and children’s services committee credited the school as one of the leading educational facilities in the city.
She said: “Neil, his pupils and staff have come up with a wonderful way of celebrating the anniversary of their school, and one that will be looked back on with affection for years to come.
“Northfield Academy has been an integral and constantly evolving part of secondary education in Aberdeen for 60 years.
“This special anniversary will, I’m sure, spark fond memories for former pupils and staff spanning the generations.”
