A man has been released from custody after he was charged in connection with an alleged rape in Aberdeen.
Police responded to reports of an attack in the Bon Accord Crescent area between 3am and 4am on Friday.
A 20-year-old man was subsequently taken into custody and charged by officers.
However, following inquiries by the procurator fiscal, he has now been released from custody.
A Crown Office spokesman said: “The procurator fiscal received a report concerning a 20-year-old man in connection with an alleged incident said to have occurred on September 9.
“After full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, he was liberated from custody pending further inquiries and did not appear in court.”
