A newly-formed arts society is set to stage its first major production after a year of planning.
Fraserburgh Drama Group was created last October in a bid to attract more youngsters into art and performance.
Gordon Pittendrigh, a committee member of the new organisation, has now unveiled Annie as the group’s first musical production.
And last night, he said locals were already throwing their support behind the participants – aged between eight and their 50s – and wishing them well.
He said: “We’re an inclusive group for kids and adults who maybe haven’t had opportunities before.
“It means we have a big cast. Because everyone who has auditioned has a part in the show.
“This is the first musical show the group will have done.”
Annie tells the rags to riches tale of a young girl who is forced to live in an orphanage before her life is transformed.
Mr Pittendrigh added: “We’ve the kids to dance and the public has been behind us.
“We did a few songs at the Fraserburgh football match last Saturday, and various shops have been doing raffles and sponsorship for us to get the scenery hired in and to fund shows in the future.
“Local companies have also been really good for us. Both Gray and Adams and Johnston Carmichael have given us nice donations, and we’ve had a few people telling us that they hope we do well.”
Tickets to the group’s production of Annie, which will take place in Fraserburgh Academy on September 29 and 30, are priced at £8 each.
They are available to purchase from local shops R & S Dyga and C & A West.
