Revealed: The cost of laying – and removing – tar from historic Aberdeen cobbles

A botched tar job at the bottom of Windmill Brae in Aberdeen has been brought to the attention of Kevin Stewart MSP. The tar has broken up already, which was over the cobbled street and manholes have been covered up.

The cost of laying tar on historic Aberdeen cobbles – and subsequently removing it after a public outcry – has been revealed as more than £10,000.

Aberdeen’s finance committee heard yesterday that the bitmac job on Windmill Brae cost £2,740 to lay and around £8,000 to remove.
