A north-east fish and chip shop closed after a huge fire is finally to be demolished.
Work to knock down The Bervie Chipper in Stonehaven is due to start next week.
The popular chip shop has been boarded up since the blaze in 2009, despite the then owners having had hopes to reopen.
It comes after Aberdeen-based developers West Coast Estates were granted planning permission this week for seven two-bedroom flats on the site.
Iftikar Mian, director of firm, confirmed that demolition would commence next week.
He added: “As local residents are fully aware, the site has lain derelict for over seven years so we are thrilled to be getting on the site to begin what will be the first phase of our £1.5million regeneration plans to transform the current eyesore into seven high quality flats.”
There will be two flats on each of the first three floors with one flat on the fourth.
Parking will be provided to the front of the premises and a shared garden will also be available for all homeowners at the back of the building. The flats are expected to be completed by next spring.
