Police in Turriff have been continuing high-visibility patrols as part of their new operation to tackle a long standing issue of antisocial driving in the town centre.
Operation Tractable was launched two weeks ago in order to deter motorists from driving in an antisocial manner through the streets, which has been a concern for local residents for many years.
Sergeant, David Threadgold said: “Antisocial driving in Turriff has been a major issue for the local community in Turriff for some time and we have responded to their concerns to improve the situation.
“Since introducing the operation we, and residents, have seen a noticeable difference in driver behaviour in the town and I would thank those who are contributing to this.
“I would also like to add that the issue of antisocial driving is not limited to young drivers and our operation is not targeting any particular motoring group.
“We are purely reacting to concerns from local residents who have lived with the problem for some time and who would like action taken.”
He also warned that anyone caught through the operation – regardless of who they are – will be charged.
Antisocial driving involves speeding and inconsiderate driving, including accelerating harshly, revving engines, driving a circuit, and making vehicle modifications that result in excessive noise.
