A north-east man who sexually assaulted two women has been jailed.
Gordon Whyte forced himself on two women, including one who was asleep, over a two-year period, from November 2011 to December 2013.
The 67-year-old had denied the allegations but was found guilty by jury following a trial at the city’s sheriff court earlier this year.
Whyte, of Inverurie, appeared at the court for sentencing yesterday.
Defence agent John McLeod said Whyte was in “exceptionally poor health” and suffered from a number of conditions, including diabetes.
Mr McLeod said the social work report carried out following Whyte’s conviction was “subjective, judgmental and just plain wrong”.
However, Sheriff Graeme Napier sentenced Whyte to 15 months in prison and said he had taken advantage of his victims.
He said: “You had an arrogant attitude towards the two females involved.
“You had shown interest in the second woman on a sexual basis and you had repeatedly discussed sexual matters with the first woman.
“In the case of the woman in charge two, she was also asleep when you forced yourself upon her.
“The jury deleted certain allegations but it seems to me there’s no other way to deal with this than through a custodial sentence.”
Whyte grabbed his first victim by the body and repeatedly kissed her on the mouth while in a property in Inverurie.
During another incident, at a house in Oldmeldrum, Whyte had lain on top of another woman, groped her all over her body and then pinned her to a sofa while grabbing her neck.
Sheriff Napier also placed Whyte on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
