Swimmers in a north-east town face another long wait to get back in the water after their local authority announced further delays.
Banff Swimming Pool will remain closed for another three weeks until work to upgrade its facilities can be completed.
The facility closed last month to allow workers to refurbish the pool and changing areas.
The six week closure was meant to have created a new “changing village” which would have included family changing units, a steam room, sauna and a link between the community’s new sports centre.
Aberdeenshire Council say the latest delay is to allow the upgrades to be completed “to the highest standard”.
Head of lifelong learning and leisure, John Harding, said: “The work to refurbish Banff Swimming Pool is slightly behind schedule and we apologise for any ongoing inconvenience to local users.
“These works are taking place as part of a substantial investment by the council to provide state-of-the-art sports and community facilities and I thank local residents for their patience while work is carried out.
“Once completed the pool will benefit from a new changing village which will include changing cubicles and family changing areas, a steam room and sauna as well as a link through to the new Deveron Centre.
“We estimate the pool will remain closed for another three weeks but will keep the local community updated if there is any change to that timetable.”
The Deveron Centre is being provided in the port as a result of a failed deal between the council and supermarket giant Tesco, which pulled out of an agreement to build a new store last year.
A termination package part-funded a £12.7million scheme for new sports facilities for the community.
The scheme includes creating a new sports hall and squash courts, football pitches, and both running and cycling tracks.
Upgrades to Banff’s tennis courts and a refurbishment of Banff Academy’s PE department have also been funded.
