Aberdeen City Council has received 25 applications for the position of depute chief executive despite fears that candidates were being put off moving to the north-east due to the oil downturn.
Council chiefs say the new role, with a salary of £127,391 per year, has had interest from around the country.
Willie Young, convener of the appointments panel, said: “The caliber of the candidates appears to be outstanding and the appointment panel meets on October 4 to short list suitable candidates.
“Over the last few years Aberdeen City Council has built up a great reputation as being an employer of choice and I look forward to working with the appointment panel to ensure the city receives the right person for this very important job.”
