A motorcyclist who died in a horror crash on a north-east road has today been named by police.
43-year-old Kevin Yule, from the Alford area of Aberdeenshire, was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a van on the A980 Banchory to Torpins road.
The accident happened on Tuesday, September 20 and police have urged anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible.
Road Policing Inspector Jon Barron said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with Kevin’s family and friends and all those directly affected by this devastating and tragic incident.
Our enquiries are still continuing into the circumstances. I would urge anyone who hasn’t spoken to us as yet but who might have any information, contact us as soon as possible.”
The accident took place about one mile east of Campfield Filling Station, and led to locals calling for traffic calming measures to make the route safer.
The stretch of road between Torphins and Banchory has been the scene of a number of fatal and serious collisions throughout the years.
Aberdeenshire Council closed the A980 between Raemoir Road and the scene of the accident for emergency repairs, following the crash, until 6pm last night.
A spokesman for the local authority confirmed it was ready to enter into discussions about making the route safer for motorists.
He said: “We are always happy to hear any suggestions for any road improvements in Aberdeenshire, particularly where they relate to road safety.”
