Council chiefs have been urged to extend their plans for repairs to an Aberdeen street branded the “worst road in the city”.
Rubislaw Park Road in the city’s west end is scheduled for small scale repairs later this month.
But local councillor Martin Greig has demanded more through work be carried out on what he has branded the road, which he described as being like “the surface of the moon”.
The Liberal Democrat claimed the ruling Labour-lead administration had “ignored” road repairs leading to large potholes.
In August, it was reported that transport bosses at the local authority are facing a daunting £35million roads repair bill over the next five years.
Mr Greig said: “The road is like the surface of the moon, it is unacceptable that it has deteriorated so much.
“I would argue that Rubislaw Park Road is the worst road in the city.
“I have urged that the council gives attention to this road. I am pleased that it is due to be repaired in October.
“However, only a section is being repaired and more needs to be done to complete the job.
“The council is not spending enough on road repairs. Bigger and bigger potholes are appearing.”
But council transport spokesman Ross Grant hit back, and said: “As he has highlighted the road will be repaired in a matter of weeks.
“As an administration we have kept the roads maintenance budget intact and have made no significant cuts to this budget.
“The rate of claims from drivers has continued to decline over the course of our administration.”
