A north-east cancer organisation that supports patients at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is to benefit from the sales of a new charity book.
The Speaking of Values publication, written by three authors from across Scotland, seeks to inspire readers with real-life stories from Scottish business professionals and philanthropists from across the country.
Cash generated from the sales of the book will be donated to 14 different causes across the UK, including the Friends of Anchor charity in Aberdeen which supports ARI’s Anchor Unit.
One of the book’s contributors is Aberdeen woman Audrey Mooney, who worked in the prison service for more than 40 years.
She said: “Since retiring after four decades in the prison service earlier this year, it has been a real privilege to make a small contribution to Speaking of Values and have the chance to reflect on my career.
“I have lots of admiration for the work Friends of Anchor does for patients in the north-east and I know that, if my friends or family had to rely upon their services, they would be in the best of hands with the Anchor Unit team.”
James Milne, chairman of Friends of Anchor, stated: “To have added a charitable element to Speaking of Values is to be applauded, as it will ultimately generate awareness for small local charities on a national scale.
“We are delighted to be one of the chosen charities to benefit from the generosity of those buying the book.
“On behalf of the patients receiving treatment in the Anchor Unit, thank you very much for your support.”
