Seven people have been arrested after a man was taken to hospital yesterday following an alleged stabbing in an Aberdeen city-centre car park.
Police and ambulance teams were dispatched to the College Street Car Park, close to the railway station, just after 1.30pm after reports of a man in distress walking out of the facility.
Eyewitnesses said the 41-year-old man was wearing only jeans, and was heavily bleeding from serious wounds on his head and one of his shoulders.
The man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) for treatment for his injuries shortly after he was first spotted, and officers could be seen interviewing a number of onlookers following the incident.
Late yesterday afternoon, police confirmed that seven people had been arrested in relation to the attack.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police can confirm that three women and four men have been detained after a 41-year-old man was assaulted in the College Street area of Aberdeen today, Thursday October 6, at around 1.30pm.
“The seven people detained are assisting police with inquiries.
“Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and there is no threat to the wider public.”
Jade Heanan saw the events unfold from across the road.
She said: “He was shirtless and bleeding everywhere, blood was running down his head and his body.
“We couldn’t hear him shouting, but he was in a right state, he looked a bit woozy and was stumbling about.
“We all ran to the window when we heard something was happening, and we were shocked and saw him walking out of the front of the car park, just covered in blood.
“It was scary, because all of a sudden there were police cars everywhere and he was being taken into the ambulance.
“I think he got stabbed, that’s what a lot of people were saying. We were a bit far to see, but it looks like someone battered him, and maybe he had a fall and that’s how he’s hurt his head.”
