The theme will be less midsummer night and more autumnal fright when Aden Country Park prepares for its Halloween celebrations with a Shakespearean twist.
The park, near Mintlaw, traditionally hosts a spooky theatre and fireworks evening to celebrate All Hallows Eve and this year’s activities revolve around the Bard.
Thousands of revellers are expected to descend on the woods to take part in Aden-een and have been encouraged to bring wellington boots, torches and fancy dress clothing.
A spokesman for the event, which is organised by Peterhead-based performing arts and youth group Modo, said: “We want people to join a celebration of culture and community in the beautiful surrounds of Aden Country Park as young people, bursting with energy and enthusiasm, create an extravaganza of delight.
“2016 marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. This year’s event will fill the woods with many of the characters and scenes, inspired by Britain’s greatest playwright.”
The performance will take place alongside the annual Shell Fireworks Parade which is now in its eight year and brings together young people from across Aberdeenshire to take part and gain “transferable skills”.
The youth regeneration project is being organised by Modo with help from Shell and Aberdeenshire Council.
Aden-een will take place from 6.30-9pm on Friday, October 28. Entry is £2 for adults and £1 for children and tickets are also available online.
The event is not recommended for children under the age of five and dogs and alcohol are not permitted. Fireworks are scheduled to be lit at 7.45pm.
