Two housebreaking incidents in Aberdeenshire have sparked a call from police, urging residents to step up their home security.
Officers are investigating the thefts, which took place on Saturday, October 8, between 1030pm and 11pm, in Ellon and between 8am and 9am on Sunday, October 9 in Oldmeldrum.
Constable David Ritchie said: “These are deplorable acts and while nothing was taken, the householders have been left shaken by the ordeal.
“The inquiry officers would encourage anyone with information in relation to these crimes or concerns in their neighbourhood to report this to police.
“Outdoor security lights are a good preventative measure, and these should be checked routinely to ensure they are working now the darker winter nights are upon us.
“During the October holiday period, many families may be away for a period of time.
“It is important to ensure homes are made as secure as possible. If you are going away for a few days, ask your neighbours or family to keep an eye on the property.”
Anyone with information relating to these two crimes is urged to contact the police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
