Police are hunting a robber who masked his face with tape and held up a north-east convenience shop with a weapon.
The incident happened at around 5.55am yesterday at the Spar store in Fraserburgh’s St Modans Place and “presented a weapon”.
The man made off with more than £100 in cash. No one was hurt.
Shaken staff at the shop declined to comment on the incident yesterday.
Police are now hunting the culprit, who is described as being between 5ft 10ins and 6ft in height. He was wearing safety glasses and had tape on his face during the robbery.
He was wearing a light grey bomber jacket, dark bottoms with a light stripe running down the side as well as a black hat and gloves.
Last night, Detective Sergeant Martyn Thomson said: “Thankfully no one was hurt during the incident, however the staff member who was in the shop at the time was understandably shaken.
“A full investigation including speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV is underway and I am appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time in question and saw anything suspicious to contact police.
“Likewise anyone who saw a person matching the description provided either before the time of the robbery or after should come forward.
“You may have vital information which could assist our investigation.”
DS Thomson said crimes of this nature are “extremely rare” in the community and assured the public that the safety of businesses in the area is a top priority for the force.
He added: “Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous.”
