An Aberdeen charity is going through the looking glass for donations of raffle and auction prizes to help make a fundraising ball a success.
VSA will host the Alice in Wonderland-themed event at Ardoe House Hotel on November 5.
During the last seven years, it has raised more than £70,000 which has been used to provide social care and education for the elderly, young and mentally-challenged people in the north-east.
In past initiatives, the inspiration has come from Bollywood and the Great Gatsby but this time round, the organisers have turned to the Lewis Carroll novel.
Vicki Youngson, who co-ordinates fundraising for VSA, said: “We are looking for local people or businesses who would kindly consider helping us by donating a gift for our raffle, or a prize for our silent auction which may be a popular item for bids on the night.
“Around 350 guests are expected to attend the special event, which attracts local key business people from a wide range of sectors.
“In return for your support, you will be given acknowledgement of your generosity in our souvenir programme.
The black-tie evening will be hosted by Deacon Blue drummer and football pundit Dougie Vipond with music provided by Madhen.
In the past, only full tables could be booked, but because of the oil downturn, individual seats will be offered for £100 each.
Mrs Youngson added: “This year, all funds raised will go to support VSA’s mental health services and vulnerable adults on their journey to recovery.
“Sadly, one in four people in the United Kingdom will experience a mental health problem in the next twelve months – it really could be any one of us, our loved ones, a close family friend, the person next door or a colleague.
“The guiding principle of recovery is hope, the belief that it is possible for someone to regain a meaningful life.”
