Hundreds of people hopped to Aberdeen city centre yesterday to mark the launch of an international beer festival.
And the golden lager was flowing to the sounds of an oompa band as Oktoberfest got underway in Aberdeen’s Castlegate.
This is the third year in a row the traditional German festival has been celebrated in the Granite City.
Festival organisers have said the event is proving more popular than ever before.
Carsten Raun, festival director, said: “The mood at our event is as good as the one in Munich.
“One thing the Scottish and Germans have in common is the joy of life with a nice beer, so Oktoberfest is a perfect place to meet.”
This year, beer lovers are able to clink their glasses under the shelter of a marquee, which holds 950 seats and serviced by lederhosen-clad staff.
But there’s more than just the world famous foam-topped steins on offer, a feast of traditional German food such as schnitzels, pretzel bread, roast pork and vegetarian options is also available too.
On Sunday, a special bratwurst lunch will be held to give families an opportunity to experience a different cultural cuisine.
The event runs until Sunday and is open to over-18s except from the final day where children are allowed in free.
