An Aberdeen youth charity’s fundraising efforts have received the backing of a north-east MSP.
Tory Liam Kerr has tabled a motion at the Scottish Parliament calling for support for Aberdeen Transition Extreme’s campaign to raise £20,000.
The money will be used to fund 50 annual passes for skateboarding and rock climbing at the beachfront attraction.
Both sports have been added to the Olympic Games for Tokyo 2020, so the funds could help encourage a future generation of Olympians.
Mr Kerr said: “Transition Extreme is a modern social enterprise and youth charity which is doing great work in the local community.
“By learning the skills and discipline required in sports such as rock climbing and skateboarding, it helps young people make the journey into adulthood – as well as providing an outlet for exercise.
“Above all else, it is good fun, and it is great to see the success that this operation has had since it opened in 2007.
“I hope that my fellow MSPs will join me in backing this motion to provide a small helping hand as the charity works its way towards its £20,000 goal.”
