Two teens have been charged following a massive blaze at an Aberdeenshire hospital.
Some 65 firefighters fought a huge blaze at the Glen O’Dee Hospital, in Banchory, after it broke out last Thursday at 11.30pm, remaining on scene until Saturday morning.
Police have today said two 13-year-old boys have been charged in relation to the incident.
Detective Sergeant George Nixon said: “We would like to thank members of the Banchory community for their support and assistance throughout this enquiry.
“While no one was injured a significant amount of damage has been caused and the consequences could have been far greater.”
A police spokeswoman said: “Police can confirm that two 13 year old boys have been charged and will be reported to the Youth Justice Management Unit in relation to the wilful fire-raising at a derelict building at Glen O’Dee in Banchory.
“The incident happened on Thursday, 13 October.
It took firefighters almost 19 hours to bring the massive fire under control last week, after which the incident was downgraded.
And yesterday crews were sent back to the Glen O’Dee Hospital, in Banchory, at 7.20am after the flames flared up again.
