Budding detectives can test their crime-solving skills when Ellon police station throws open its doors next weekend.
Scores of families turn out for the annual open day, where police at the Bridge Street station team up with the nearby fire station to give them a behind-the-scenes peek at how the emergency services work.
During the event on May 31, families can tour the station and see the cells. They can also examine a crime scene that will have been set up.
Information about the work of the mountain rescue team and the road policing unit will also be available.
A fire crew will also be in attendance, giving youngsters the chance to sit in a fire engine while adults can find out more about free home fire safety visits, road safety and becoming a retained firefighter.
Sergeant James Harrison, who has organised the open day, said: “We are delighted to be able to invite members of the public into the Ellon station and answer any questions people may have about policing and to discuss local concerns.
“This is a great opportunity for the public to see how varied the life of a police officer can be.”
David Rout, area manager for the fire service, added: “This open day gives members of the community a chance to get a close look at their emergency services and we’re delighted to be joining our police colleagues as we have an excellent relationship with them locally.
“Of course we’ll have a fire engine at the event and it’s sure to be a great day – I know the firefighters in Ellon are hoping for a good turnout.”
