Lachlan MacKenzie, 12, from Muir of Fowlis, near Alford, was in Troon with his family when the accident happened yesterday. The emergency services were called out but he died at the scene. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal. Alford Academy Head Teacher Moira Milne said: “We are deeply saddened by this news today. “Lachlan had settled into his first year at Alford Academy very well and this will come as a huge shock to the school and wider community. “Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
